Lemon Pepper Popcorn Chicken

what you need

  • Chicken breast cut into 2 cm cubes

  • Flour, for crumbing

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 cups (250ml) milk

  • 2 cups panko crumbs

  • 6 Tbsp Smokey Joe's Lemon Pepper seasoning

  • Vegetable oil, for frying


What to do

  • Heat the oil to 180°C.

  • In one bowl, whisk together flour and half of the  lemon pepper seasoning.

  • In a second bowl, whisk eggs and milk.

  • In a third bowl, combine Panko breadcrumbs and the remaining lemon pepper seasoning.

  • First, coat chicken in the flour mixture, then dip them in the egg mixture.

  • Finally, coat with the lemon pepper Panko crumbs.

  • Fry chicken for 2-3 minutes (depending on size) until golden and crispy.

  • Use a metal slotted spoon to remove and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.


Perfect served with a spiced or lemon aioli. 


These are also perfect for cooking in an air fryer, and you can easily swap them for prawns!
