Whisky BBQ Sauce

Updated: May 23

There is nothing better than a great sauce to coat your ribs or wings, my whisky bbq sauce is quick and simple to make and adds a sticky sweet flavour to anything you decide to use it on. If you like a bit of heat add some tabasco or Sriracha sauce.

what you need

1 cup tomato sauce (ketchup)

3/4 cup Whisky

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup cider vinegar

1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp mustard powder

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

1/2 tsp garlic powder

What to do

  1. Combine all ingredients in a heavy based saucepan. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce has reduced and thickened.

  2. Allow to cool and store in a sterile container in fridge for up to 3 weeks.

  3. When you want to apply to your ribs, warm the sauce in a saucepan in the BBQ and brush on.

For a real shine, heat the sauce up before applying and whisk in a couple of cubes of butter until shiny, then apply.
