There is nothing better than a great sauce to coat your ribs or wings, my whisky bbq sauce is quick and simple to make and adds a sticky sweet flavour to anything you decide to use it on.. if you like a bit of heat add some tabasco or Sriracha sauce
what you need
1 Cup Ketchup
3/4 Cup Whisky
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 Teaspoon of garlic powder
what to do
Combine all ingredients in a heavy based saucepan.Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce has reduced and thickened.
Allow to cool and store in a sterile container in fridge for up to 3 weeks
When you want to apply to your ribs, warm the sauce in a saucepan in the BBQ and brush on.
For a real shine, heat the sauce up before applying and whisk in a couple of cubes of butter until shiny, then apply.
